Senators claim Morrison

The Ottawa Senators could not get the goalie insurance they wanted through the trade market, but the club was able to find some solace Thursday through the waiver wire.

Ottawa claimed Edmonton goalie Mike Morrison, who was made available when Edmonton made one of two high-profile deals to get a goaltender in the days leading up to Thursday's trade deadline.

Edmonton acquired Minnesota's Dwayne Roloson for Minnesota for a first-round pick and a conditional third-round pick that comes into play if the 36-year-old Roloson, an unrestricted free agent this summer, re-signs with the Oilers.

Montreal and Colorado were involved in the other goaltender trade Tuesday as the team's swapped No. 1 goalies. Montreal landed David Aebischer while the Avs took on injured goalie Jose Theodore, who is expected to be back from a heel injury in time for the final week of regular-season play.
