The New Jersey Devils continued to upgrade their defense Thursday by trading for New York Islanders defenseman Brad Lukowich. The Devils earlier acquired defenseman Ken Klee from Toronto Wednesday for Albany River Rats forward Aleksander Suglobov.
The Devils sent their third-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft to the Islanders in the Lukowich deal.
One reason for the Devils' run on defensemen is the uncertainty of defenseman Richard Matvichuk, who recently suffered a back injury.
