Canucks add goaltending

The Vancouver Canucks strengthened their goaltending Thursday by acquiring Mika Noronen from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for their second-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft. The deal is conditional on Noronen passing a physical.

Noronen, 26, a native of Tampere, Finland, is 22-31-6 with a 2.64 goals-against average and .902 save percentage in 67 NHL games over five seasons with Buffalo. He was the Sabres' first pick, 21st overall, in the 1997 Entry Draft. His busiest season was 2003-04 when he went 11-17-2 in 35 Sabres games.
